Hello, I am interested in CMGT and what I want to ask is how much should I focus on the basic Portfolio? How important it is and what should I do to make it good?

Hello Mihai,

Awesome that you are interested in CMGT!

The purpose of the basic portfolio is to see if your work and goals match the program. It’s your chance to show during the intake what your talents are, what you are interested in, or what you want to learn/become better at. It’s used so it gives you something to discuss/talk about during the intake. It also helps the people who are doing your intake to see if this program fits you. So it’s good to spend some time on it :)

Hey there! It is important to bring a portfolio with work that you are passionate about. It's a way to see if you are actually passionate about the subject and if you will go that extra mile. I brought drawings for example and pictures of cakes I make, but you could also show code you wrote, videos you have edited, or 3D models you created. The teachers don't expect a portfolio with tons of perfect pieces, you are going to this study to learn of course! It also helps to make a list of software programs you have experience with and show an example of this (for example, photoshop, unity, Autodesk Maya, premier pro, etc.) Don't be afraid to show "failed" work if you improved from it. Tell them how and why this piece helped you improve.

I hope this helps,

Goodluck!

Jennifer
