Your school grades honestly don't matter at all. Your portfolio, but more importantly your intake assignment is the priority.
But that doesn't mean it has to be filled to the brim with exciting creations. What's more important is that you show that you're willing to try new things. Putting in any of your creative assignments portfolio should be your priority, whether that be a random sketch you did in class, a broken piece of software you coded, or a horrible 3D model full of ngons. I literally brought some pixel art, a few sketches, and a 3D model of a chess piece alongside my intake assignment, and my teacher was ecstatic.
As long as you can show your motivation and curiosity, you'll do a-okay!
Hope this helps!
